2008 Schedule:
The Power Animal Journey: Intro to Shamanism (Brief BASIC)
Saturday, November 15, 2008, from 1 to 3 pm — $20
Isis Metaphysical Books, 2775 S. Broadway, Englewood, CO
Call 303-321-0867 to register.
(Isis policy requires payment when you register, to assure holding your place in the class. Isis accepts cash and checks for classes; to pay with a credit card via PayPal, please contact me directly here.)
The ability to intentionally shift into a trance state and commune with the spirit plane is an asset to many spiritual paths, and the shamanic journey is one very dependable means of doing that.
This brief class is an experiential introduction to core shamanism through the power animal journey. If you’re wondering what shamanism is or how it might compliment (or BE) your spiritual path, this is a great place to start. There’s a bit of talk — explaining terminology, procedures and such — but then we move into the journey itself.
Cost is $20 and you may repeat this class in the future without charge, to refine your journeying technique, have some community, or simply to hear a live drum.

Beginning Shamanism - Weekend Workshop (Extended BASIC)

Sliding scale - $80 - $100
Private Denver-area location; space is limited
Call 720-216-0005 or email for more information and to register.
Devote a full weekend to learning the basics of shamanic journeying! For those who are new to shamanism, have taken the 2-hour introduction or been approaching the subject through books only, this workshop is designed to help provide structure in your practice, enhance your journey-confidence and build community with other journeyers. We’ll use this time to explore the Lower, Upper and Middle Worlds through a variety of journeys, trouble-shoot any questions that arise, look a bit at the history of shamanism, and then - yes! - do some more journeying. This is Labor Day weekend: Why not skip the holiday travel traffic and take some inner journeys instead? (You can picnic on Monday.) No prior experience necessary.
Cost is $80 - $100. A deposit of $50 is due by March 1 to hold your place.
PS: Some of the other teachers trained by Sandra Ingerman require that students have taken a 2-day Basic Training for admission into their advanced workshops. This workshop meets that requirement.
13 Moons - A Year-long Training in Shamanic Practices
This is a yearlong series of classes that will meet once a month, sometimes for a single day, sometimes for a weekend. Among the topics we’ll cover: Journeying to Upper, Middle and Lower Worlds; ethical considerations; working with Spirits of Nature; crafting tools; creating ritual; psychopomp and afterlife-related work (aka Death & Dying); working with ancestor and descendant spirits; the ecologically-based Medicine for the Earth material; techniques for personal healing and much more, including the creation of community within the group for continued studies and support
Dates: April 2008 to April 2009, mainly on the 2nd Sunday of each month, or the weekend including the 2nd Sunday.
For all meetings: (9:30 AM doors) 10 AM to about 5:30 PM with a lunch break midway.
Overall aim: To building a strong and vibrant spiritual practice with grounding in a personal practice of shamanism.
The current class is full, but I’ll be teaching this training again in 2009-2010.
If you’re interested in hearing when I schedule this class again, please contact me by email.
I will also be teaching these advanced workshops in 2009:
Shamanic Extraction of Misplaced Energies — Training for Healers (May 23-24)
Soul Retrieval — Training for Healers (Nov. 14-15 and 21-22 - a 2-weekend class)
Death and Dying: Psychopomp and Afterlife Work (December 5-6)
Good journeying skills are a prerequisite for these classes. Please click here for more information.
Journey Drumming Circle! click here for details. A good place to practice once you’ve learned the basics, or whenever you want to have some live drumming and community.
About Shamanic Workshops:
I’ve been teaching the basics of shamanic journeying since 1989, received most of my training through Michael Harner’s Foundation for Shamanic Studies, and recently completed Sandra Ingerman’s rigorous two-year-long Teachers’ Training. This is often called Core Shamanism, but over the past two decades, my personal practice has evolved organically and probably doesn’t always follow the relatively-strict Harner definition. For more details about my training and preparation as a teacher, please click here.
The two-hour introductory class on the basic Power Animal journey is offered in the Denver area several times throughout the year.
I teach in the Denver area and along the Colorado Front Range. To find Shamanic Teachers in other parts of the USA and worldwide, please visit: www.shamanicteachers.com
