Mind-Fold Mask

Don’t laugh - it works!  And wow, this thing is cool!  The strap is elastic and joins at the sides with Velcro, so it’s comfortable and totally adjustable.  The inside of the Mind-Fold Mask is foam rubber with cut-out areas over the eyes - total darkness, but no pressure on the eyes themselves (great if you’re wearing contact lenses.  Or mascara).  The front panel is opaque black plastic — there is NO light coming in!  Good for shamanic journeying in too-bright rooms or for folks who must sleep during the daylight hours.

Comes in a zip-lock storage pouch with a set of foam ear-plugs, for even more complete sensory deprivation.

Remo Buffalo Drum 16”

Five years ago I switched to using a Remo Buffalo Drum, after my beautiful elk-hide drum succumbed to humidity once too often.  The Remo Fiberskyn head will never alter its tone, in sweat lodge or desert.  No problems!  Plus it’s light-weight, so it travels well and you can drum for extended times without shoulder agony (traditional hide and wood drums tend to be heavy).  Entirely synthetic: No animals or trees were sacrificed to create this.  Note: All parts of the drum - head, rim, black inner rim - are ripe for your personalized decorations.  Include the bag for an additional $5.

Drum Bag 16” x 3.5”

A simple sturdy nylon bag that fits the 16” Remo Buffalo or other 16” frame drum.  It doesn’t offer heaps of padding, but is water- and scratch-resistant, and good for keeping all your small gear together with your drum.  Zip closure, two webbing handles.  That slim pocket on the outside can hold a bodhran tipper, or the cryptically scrawled directions to tonight’s drum frenzy.  Pack your rattles, sage, altar cloth, belly-dancing jingle scarf, et. al. inside the back of your drum, then just slide drum into case and head for the drum circle!  Price is $5 if purchased with the Buffalo drum.

Wooden Egg Rattle

If you’ve used the plastic version, this rattle is an aesthetic step up.  About the size of a real egg, but made of wood, this little rattle is packable, pleasant in the hand, and easy on the wallet.  The tone varies from soft to bright, depending on how you hold the egg.  Comes in natural wood (shown), yellow, orange, red or green - your choice.

Metal Doumbek with Fiberskyn Head

Nickeled brass doumbek, 15” tall and 10” across the head.  This drum is embossed with floral patterns that vary slightly from drum to drum.  Tunable with bolts, though since this model comes with a Remo Fiberskyn head - nice to the hand, impervious to weather - you probably won’t ever need this, unless you replace the Fiberskyn with goatskin.  I know ceramic drums have their own fine sound, but this doumbek is much lighter weight (good when climbing long mountain trails to your fire circle) and, thanks to the magic of metal, you won’t need epoxy if your toddler has a jammin’ mishap.

Gundestrup Cauldron

No, not the real one - that’s in the National Museum of Copenhagen, and dates to 100 B.C.E.  This is just a super, high quality replica.  With fantastic detail inside and out, this is the crown jewel of Celtic artifacts!  It’s altar-sized and waterproof.  Not a mere display piece, this cauldron is a magnificent ritual tool.  Artistically, it contains more specific visual information about Celtic life, religion and culture than any other single artifact.  Called by some scholars "the single most valuable barbarian treasure ever unearthed."  At least fifteen goddesses and gods are depicted.  Cold cast bronze (urethane resin mixed with metal powder and molded to obtain the appearance of solid metal).  7” tall, 12.25” wide
